From September 2025
From September 2025, the Trust will cover the costs for an apprentice contract with the Stuttgart Ballet for students of the John Cranko School who would otherwise have no opportunity to gain experience as professional dancers.
April 2025
In April 2025, the Trust enabled participation in the Royal Ballet’s (London) Choreographic Program International Draft Works by covering visa and travel costs for Emanuele Babici (choreographer and former student of the John Cranko School) as well as the dancers Abigail Willson-Heisel, Yana Peneva, and Serhii Zharikov (all former students of the John Cranko School). For the program, Emanuele Babici choreographed a new piece titled Heartquake. The performances took place at the Linbury Theatre of the Royal Opera House in London.
October 2024
In October 2024, the Trust helped make possible a dance film project by Martino Semenzato (Stuttgart Ballet dancer and choreographer), visual artist Donna Volta Newmen, filmmaker Emilia Tapprest, composer Yair Karelic, and Stuttgart Ballet soloist Diana Ionescu. The premiere of Untamed took place on 05.10.2024 at the Wagenhallen in Stuttgart.
June 2022
In June 2022, the John Cranko Trust decided to establish a “John Cranko Scholarship” for talented students from around the world. This scholarship is available to the John Cranko School, as needed, each school year and enables a full year of instruction and accommodation at the John Cranko School.
December 2021—December 2023
From December 2021 to December 2023, the Trust awarded a scholarship for studies in Choreology at the Benesh Institute in London to a former student of the John Cranko School and dancer of the Stuttgart Ballet. This was also intended to support the dancer in his transition from an active stage career to a profession that can be pursued after a dance career.
